Summary: Favorable Reviews

Wonderful tent. Love the vestibules that they included. I was able to put some of my stuff there. Rainfly kept us dry when I used it once on my camping trip. It was able to stand moderate wind also.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

You will get what you paid for. Don't expect too much. Limit your expectations, but it is still a good catch. However, I don't like the material used on the floor. You needed a tarp to make it robust.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Taurus 2 Outfitter has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 10 which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 189 other 2 person tents we have looked at. With 37 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper all through the 3-seasons this tent is recommended for. Smaller tents similar to this one often make a really good choice for campers that appreciate spending plenty of hours outside their tent getting some air.

Many of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular floor, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can check out a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Taurus Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  6. Other sizes are available. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent providing this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $203.82 info_outline

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Taurus 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon Oxford, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Taurus 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Alps's Taurus 2 Outfitter tent is ideal for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a few other things not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: The Taurus Outfitter Series has 2 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers and a heavy duty nylon oxford floor., For poles, we use aircraft alloy 7000 series aluminum that are strong and lightweight. and The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty..

With wonderful ratings, a few reviews and a peak height of 3' and 37 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own modest studio. It allows you to spend some delightful moments camping. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this page looking for an endorsement on this actual tent, our view is, it would make for a very good purchase. In case you just happened to land on this page while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this tent model previously, it is possibly a good thing to look at a few more comparable tents also.

Value for money: When contemplating value for money, this tent is without a doubt more competitive than the standard price of all the two hundred and sixty-eight, two-person tents we have studied, this alone by itself does not make it excellent value for money. We also need to think about other factors in detail, as we do for each tent.

When we calculate the score of an individual tent, we consider a lot of areas, searching for points where the tent could beat out other near-identical tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.3 and the price statistics above, one can see that with a ticket price of $203.82 info_outline The Taurus 2 Outfitter is a good deal and fabulously priced when compared with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and space the tent provides were not skimped on to arrive at a price tag significantly under the normal price for similar tents. It is also worth noting it is reduced by 18% from the manufactures MSRP. It could make an awesome choice for nearly all people searching for a comfortable three-season dome tent to go camping with, that will serve you well for years to come.
