Summary: Favorable Reviews

Truly an awesome tent. True to what was advertised on the website. The fabric feels authentic. Rainfly protected me during rains while camping.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Instructions were straightforward and to the point that it summarized all the steps. It will be a little challenging to figure out, especially when you are a beginner. Maybe, 15 minutes before you can set this all by yourself.

The Taurus 4 Outfitter has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 4' 4 which is 12 inches smaller than the average height of the 129 various 4 person tents we have looked at. With 64 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers during the 3-seasons this tent is suggested for. Smaller tents like this one can make a great choice for campers who prefer spending loads of time outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them easy to carry around. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

  1. Freestanding. The Taurus Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is easier to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Plenty of Positive Reviews The Taurus 4 has Lots of awesome Reviews
  8. Fantastic Ratings The Taurus 4 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on
  9. Other sizes are available. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $263.59 info_outline

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Taurus 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 129 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 12% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Taurus 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon Oxford, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Taurus 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 10 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. Due to the size of the tent, one cannot store much gear inside..

4.9 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.9 STARS

Alps's Taurus 4 Outfitter tent is great for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other cool things not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: The Taurus Outfitter Series has 2 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers and a heavy duty nylon oxford floor., For poles, we use aircraft alloy 7000 series aluminum that are strong and lightweight. and The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty..

With awesome ratings, a decent amount of reviews and headroom of 4' and 64 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own little home away from home. This will enable you together with 2 other friends to spend some real quality moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for an endorsement about this specific tent, we consider, it should make for an awesome acquisition. In case you just happened to arrive on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this tent model before, it is possibly a good idea to check out some more comparable tents also.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your dollar, this tent is a lot cheaper than the usual cost of all the one hundred and fifty, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this just by itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to take a look at other factors in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we tally up the score of a single tent, we examine plenty of data points, looking for things where the tent could shine against other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall score of 4.9 and the price info above, It is simple to conclude that with a ticket price of $263.59 info_outline Alps's Taurus 4 Outfitter is a fantastic bargain and fabulously competitively priced in comparison with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and space the tent provides were not in any way compromised to get a price significantly below the standard price for comparable tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is reduced by 20% from the manufactures MSRP. It will make a superb choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
