Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I was sad because the windows don't have any cover. I wanted to keep it close for some privacy and protection if the weather gets cold during a camping trip. The sleeping area is small for two persons.

The Taurus 2 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 3' 10 which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 189 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 37 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper all through the 3-seasons this tent is suggested for. Smaller tents like this one often can make a very nice choice for people that enjoy spending lots of hours outside of their tent exploring.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them easy to carry around. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Taurus can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Fantastic Ratings The Taurus 2 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on
  9. Available in other sizes. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $107.13 info_outline

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Taurus 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Taurus 2, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

Our Ratings: 4.7 STARS

Alps's Taurus 2 tent is great for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other things not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Mesh roof vents increase ventilation and improve star-gazing, ALPS tents each come with a factory sealed fly and floor seams to give you the best weather protection and keep you dry. and Easy entry and great ventilation with two doors (both with zippered mesh windows).

With fantastic ratings, tons of reviews and a peak height of 3' and 37 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your own little studio. It enables you to enjoy some really enjoyable time hanging out with nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you came to this website looking for recommendations about this actual tent, our view is, it would make for an excellent acquisition. If you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this model previously, it is possibly a good thing to look at a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: In terms of value for your money, this tent is without a doubt more competitive than the standard price of all the two hundred and sixty-eight, two-person tents we have looked at, this by itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to think about other areas in detail, as we do with each tent.

When we determine the ratings of a single tent, we look at a good deal of stuff, searching for points where the tent could perform well against other near-identical tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.7 and the price info above, It is simple to view that with a ticket price of $107.13 info_outline The Taurus 2 is an excellent bargain and incredibly competitively priced when compared with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the build and dimensions the tent provides were not in any way compromised to arrive at a price tag well below the standard price for similar tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is reduced by 23% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It should make a remarkable choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
