Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof.
