Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Backpackers who used it said: The tent is not as breathable as they would like, especially in warm or humid conditions. The mesh panels on the tent body are kind of limited, which lead to condensation buildup and discomfort when I had my camping trip the other day. Found it also to be a bit snug for a 6 footer like me. Not really disappointed but I expected more from it.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Talon 1 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 7, which is a tiny bit bigger than the average height of the 88 other 1 person tents we have examined With 24 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 1-person tents, and it should accommodate you during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one can make an excellent choice for campers who love spending plenty of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Talon can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see Browning Camping has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
  4. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with the tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to pay extra for one is a bonus.
  5. Breathable. The Talon's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  7. Low price. It is a great buy for a 1 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $165.57 info_outline

CONS

  1. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you need store them inside the tent.
  2. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Talon 1, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  3. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
