Summary: Favorable Reviews

It can adapt to any season. It's a very flexible tent. I used during rain and windy conditions. I think it is a perfect choice for a family of 3 members.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

The floor is thin. If you wanted to protect the fabric, you should put a tarp to keep it safe. When the vestibules are both closed, it's very hot inside especially during the daytime.

The Taurus 6 has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 6' 0 which is a little bit less than the average height of the 106 various 6 person tents we have studied. With 100 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to five other campers all through the 3-seasons this tent is recommended for. Larger tents like this one generally make a fantastic choice for families that enjoy having plenty of room inside of the tent.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent should have a rectangular floor, sloped sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can browse an account of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Taurus can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Other sizes are available. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 6 person dome tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $203.48 info_outline

  1. Sensitive to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Taurus may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 100 square feet, the Taurus 6 is smaller than quite a few of the 106 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Only one room. The Taurus is recommended for 6 people, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  4. Fiberglass poles. Poles made of fiberglass help to keep the price down, they do though tend to be not as strong. This is yet another reason to only use the Taurus in decent weather.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Taurus 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

Our Ratings: 4.0 STARS

Alps's Taurus 6 tent is really good for car camping. Here are a couple of other cool things not already mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: Mesh roof vents increase ventilation and improve star-gazing, ALPS tents each come with a factory sealed fly and floor seams to give you the best weather protection and keep you dry. and Easy entry and great ventilation with two doors (both with zippered mesh windows).

With great ratings, a decent amount of reviews and a minimum headroom of 6' and 100 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own small house. It enables you and up to 4 other people to enjoy some really enjoyable moments enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this page looking for recommendations on this actual tent, we think, it should make for a great purchase. If you simply happened to land on this website while looking for a new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this model before, it is probably a good idea to look at some more similar tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is a lot more competitive than the usual cost of all the one hundred and seven, six-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself does not make it awesome value for money. We also need to think about other factors in detail, as we do for each tent.

When we determine the overall score of a tent, we reflect upon a good deal of stuff, searching for things where the tent could excel against other comparable tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with a total score of 4.0 and the price conclusions above, one can see that with a cost of $203.48 info_outline The Taurus 6 is a good deal and fabulously cheap in comparison with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and space the tent offers were not skimped on to arrive at a price tag undoubtedly below the usual price for similar tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is reduced by 27% from the manufactures suggested price. It will make a superb choice for nearly all people looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to camp with, that will serve you well for years to come.
