Tent Set Up

Traditional dome architecture is easy to set up

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers said: internal pockets strategically positioned. I really appreciate the front and back external pockets. It was as really useful during my trip. The carrying bag is different from what I have with other tents. It contains smaller inner compartments for the stakes and guylines as well as separate zipped compartments for the main tent and rain fly. Organized everything. Big thumbs up!

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some campers said: Got lucky because I was not able to encounter a heavy wind or rain. One of the poles broke a little during my trip. Had to tape it immediately. Placement of the instructions were also a bit difficult to find . Did not saw it immediately when I was setting up. The zipper also got me a little problem. The fabric of the tent always tend to get stuck. Hoping these problems will be addressed.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Kohana 6 has two doors and a peak center height of 6' 0, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 122 different 6 person tents we have examined With 83 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to five other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one often can make a fantastic choice for people that like spending loads of hours outside the tent exploring.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them easy to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The most basic dome tent should have a square floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Kohana can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150D polyester oxford , which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2500 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Kohana's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 3000mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Other sizes are available. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Sensitive to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Kohana may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 83 square feet, the Kohana 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 130 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  4. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  5. Only one room. The Kohana is designed for 6 campers, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  6. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 150D polyester oxford but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

Eureka's Kohana 6 tent is perfect for car camping. There are a couple of other things not already mentioned above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: Mesh canopy allows for ventilation and picture-perfect star gazing , Full-coverage rain fly prepares campers for wet weather. and Double doors and vestibules create ample space.

With great ratings, a decent amount of reviews and headroom of 6' and 83 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your own modest residence. It will enable you together with 4 other campers to share some really enjoyable time enjoying nature. We found more pros than cons about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this website looking for suggestions about this particular tent, we consider, it will make for an awesome acquisition. In case you just happened to land on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having never heard of this brand or this tent model before, it is possibly a good idea to look at a few more comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for money, this tent is right around the usual cost of all the one hundred and twenty-two, six-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it good value for money. One should also take into account other factors in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the score of an individual tent, we scrutinize plenty of conditions, searching for things where the tent could exceed other near-identical tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total rating of 4.4 and the price statistics above, we can recognize that with a price point of $379.95 The Kohana 6 is a fair deal the cost is not at all expensive when compared with similar tents.

The ratings show that the build and dimensions, the tent offers make it a a good buyfor those looking for for a good quality 6-person tent. It could make a remarkable choice for nearly all people searching for a comfortable three-season dome tent to camp in, that should serve you well for years to come.
