Summary: Favorable Reviews

Searching for a tent that would pass my expectations, and this one just did it. Very sturdy and well built. I don't have any complaints about it — 5 out of 5.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I only wish that this tent could have had more headroom. I don't have any complaints about the space inside. I think that the height is not enough, especially for tall people.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Taurus 3 Outfitter has two doors and a maximum center height of 4' 2 which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 126 various 3 person tents we have looked at. With 49 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 3-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, up to two other campers throughout the 3-seasons this tent is recommended for. Smaller tents like this one are a very good choice for people who prefer spending heaps of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Many of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them simple to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can see a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Taurus Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  6. Available in other sizes. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 3 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $233.93 info_outline

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Taurus 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon Oxford, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Taurus 3, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Alps's Taurus 3 Outfitter tent is perfect for bicycle & motorbike camping. Here are a few other cool things not mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: The Taurus Outfitter Series has 2 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers and a heavy duty nylon oxford floor., For poles, we use aircraft alloy 7000 series aluminum that are strong and lightweight. and The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty..

With wonderful ratings, a decent amount of reviews and a peak height of 4' and 49 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your own small home away from home. It allows you together with 2 other campers to spend some delightful time camping together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can look at above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions on this actual tent, we think, it would make for a great acquisition. In case you just happened to land on this page while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent model previously, it is probably a good thing to check out some other similar tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your money, this tent is a cheaper than the normal price of all the one hundred and eighty, three-person tents we have looked at, this alone by itself does not make it excellent value for money. One should also take into account other areas in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the ratings of a tent, we reflect upon a lot of conditions, searching for things where the tent could outdo other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total score of 4.2 and the price details above, It is simple to view that with a cost of $233.93 info_outline Alps's Taurus 3 Outfitter is a decent bargain and astonishingly cheap when compared with similar tents.

Its overall score shows that the quality and space the tent gives you were not compromised to finish up with a price undoubtedly beneath the usual price for comparable tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is discounted by 19% from the manufactures suggested price. It should make a fantastic choice for most campers looking for an adequate three-season dome tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
