Campers who used this tent said: Its an excellent tent for any camping trip. The tent is easy to set up and take down, and it provides ample room for a family of five. Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who used this tent said: What I want you to watch about this tent is its zipper. You need to be extra careful or you'll definitely break it. Its true that its perfect for hot weather but during heavy rainstorms, its a bit of a problem. Tried this a couple times and the condensation build up during that time is a lot. Me and my family always encountered that one. Hoping they can fix these issues.

The Ironwood 5 has four windows and one door and a peak center height of 7' 4, which is a little bit more than the average height of the 29 various 5 person tents we have examined With 80 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 5-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to four other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can make a good choice for campers that love spending heaps of time outside of their tent exploring.

One of the many advantages of cabin tents is, that the walls are basically vertical creating a spacious interior, this allows for much more headroom at the sides of the tent, making it feel much larger than other types of tents, most of the time, they tend to have large floor areas, so they are great for larger groups. Normally cabin tents most often used by people going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. That dose though make them better suited to cooler nights.

Underneath you can check out a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

  1. Freestanding. The Ironwood can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Cedar Ridge adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. More than one window. With 4 windows it is easier to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  4. Breathable. The Ironwood's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  5. Other sizes are available. Cedar Ridge has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  6. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 5 person cabin tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $179.99

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Ironwood may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 80 square feet, the Ironwood 5 is smaller than quite a few of the 33 other 5 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Only one door. With just one exit to get out in the middle of the night, it could wake other people that are sleeping.
  4. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you need keep them inside the tent.
  5. Rainfly does not totally cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy rain.
  6. Fiberglass poles. Poles made of fiberglass help to keep the price down, they do though tend to be not as strong. This is yet another reason to only use the Ironwood in decent weather.
  7. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Ironwood 5 footprint Even though the floor may be made of PE tub-style, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Cedar Ridge's Ironwood 5 tent is suitable for car camping. There are a few other nice points not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: Interior cabin offers a spacious floor and ceiling area, Factory-sealed fly and tub style floor provide weather protection and Zippered windows provide ample ventilation.

With positive ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 7' and 80 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your own little flat. This will allow you together with 3 other campers to share some really enjoyable time camping together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions on this actual tent, we consider, it will make for a good acquisition. If you just happened to land on this page while looking for a new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this model previously, it is perhaps a good thing to check out a few other similar tents also.

Value for money: As far as value for your dollar, this tent is a cheaper than the average cost of all the twenty-nine, five-person tents we have looked at, this by itself does not make it awesome value for money. One should also look at other areas in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we tally up the score of an individual tent, we examine a lot of conditions, finding things where the tent could shine against other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.2 and the price details above, we can identify that with a ticket price of $179.99 Cedar Ridge's Ironwood 5 is a good bargain and fabulously priced when compared with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent provides were not skimped on to get a price tag undoubtedly under the standard price for similar tents. It could make a remarkable choice for nearly all people looking for an adequate three-season cabin tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
