Its design and performance is the main reason why it's so good ideal for up to 6 persons. Simple to set up and the quality of the materials is not cheap.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

It's not the best but not bad at all. The number of people that can fit inside this tent would vary depending on their size. Six people might be tight.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 6 ZF FG has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 6' 0, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 107 various 6 person tents we have examined With 100 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to five other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, larger tents similar to this one are a very nice choice for people that like having loads of room inside of their tent.

Many of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in storms than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can browse an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac ZF FG can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Available in other sizes. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 6 person dome tent providing this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $299.99

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Meramac may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 100 square feet, the Meramac 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 107 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Only one room. The Meramac is suggested for 6 campers, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  4. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you must keep them inside the tent.
  5. Uses Fiberglass poles. Even though the poles are comprised of shock-corded fiberglass. Using even some fiberglass with a big tent like the Meramac 6 could possibly lead to problems, if there were to be extreemly windy conditions.
  6. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Meramac 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon Oxford multi-pass urethane coating, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 6 ZF FG tent is ideal for car camping. There are a couple of other points not already mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: ZF Series: which stands for bigger Zipper and heavier Floor. , We even have our factory seal the seams on the floor and fly for maximum water repellency. and Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent..

With good ratings, a few reviews and headroom of 6' and 100 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your very own modest house. It will allow you together with 4 other people to enjoy some real quality moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can look at above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions on this specific tent, our view is, it would make for a good acquisition. If you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this model previously, it is perhaps a good idea to check out some other similar tents.

Value for money: As far as value for money, this tent is a more competitive than the standard cost of all the one hundred and eight, six-person tents we have looked at, this alone does not make it good value for money. We also need to think about other things in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we tally up the score of an individual tent, we consider loads of areas, searching for points where the tent could outperform other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total rating of 4.2 and the price details above, one can identify that with a ticket price of $299.99 Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 6 ZF FG is a decent bargain and fabulously cheap in comparison with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the build and space the tent gives you were not compromised to finish up with a price tag unquestionably beneath the normal price for comparable tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is discounted by 0% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It should make a fantastic choice for nearly all campers searching for a comfy three-season dome tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
