SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The External Frame Screen House 8 has four windows and two doors and a peak center height of 7' 3, which is a tiny bit bigger than the average height of the 57 various 8 person tents we have studied. With 128 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 8-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to seven other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, larger tents similar to this one make a good choice for people who like having heaps of room for sleeping and hanging out.

Many of the great things about shelter tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the shelter type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Shelter tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The most straightforward shelter tent will have a square floor, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The External Frame Screen House can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 5% more headroom than similar-sized tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 4 windows it is simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The External Frame Screen House's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Low price. It is a great deal for a 8 person shelter tent that provides this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $179.95

CONS

  1. Vulnerable to wind. Because of its size and shape, the External Frame Screen House may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 128 square feet, the External Frame Screen House 8 is smaller than quite a few of the 57 other 8 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Only one room. The External Frame Screen House is recommended for 8 people, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  4. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you will have to store them inside the tent.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of tough fabric but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we checked.

CONCLUSION

3.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 3.4 STARS

Eureka's External Frame Screen House 8 tent is really good for car camping. Here are a couple of other nice points not noted above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: 50D polyester no-see-um mesh wall panels keep bugs out while letting air in, Eat your meals in peace or escape to shade on hot sunny days and Two full-length doors zip completely open and out of the way for easy entry and exit.

With acceptable ratings, quite a few reviews and headroom of 7' and 128 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own modest mansion. It enables you and up to 6 other people to spend some delightful time camping together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this website looking for an endorsement on this specific tent, we think, it would make for a decent purchase. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this model previously, it is perhaps a good thing to look at a few more comparable tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is significantly more competitive than the standard price of all the fifty-eight, eight-person tents we have studied, this alone by itself does not make it awesome value for money. One should also take into account other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we measure the ratings of a tent, we scrutinize a good deal of things, finding areas where the tent could beat other similar tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with a total score of 3.4 and the price statistics above, we can see that with a cost of $179.95 The External Frame Screen House 8 is a good deal and incredibly cheap when compared with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and space the tent provides could have been lightly skimped on to get a price tag well beneath the average price for similar tents. It should make an ok choice for most people looking for an appropriate three-season shelter tent to go camping with, that will serve you well.
