Summary: Favorable Reviews

Worthy of your money. Correct about its waterproof capability. I tried it during the rain, and it kept me dry all night long.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

A small thing concerning this tent is I wish the mesh were a bit higher because to give some privacy for the people inside. The ventilation wasn't that good enough also especially during scorching weather, but you can still adjust by removing the fly.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 4 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 5' 0, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 134 other 4 person tents we have studied. With 64 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one are an excellent choice for campers that enjoy spending heaps of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Many of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is simple to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. Plenty of Positive Reviews The Meramac 4 has Lots of awesome Reviews
  8. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $149.99

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Meramac 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need store them inside the tent.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Meramac 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 11 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. Due to the size of the tent, one cannot store a lot of gear inside..

CONCLUSION

Our Ratings: 4.8 STARS

Alps Mountaineering's Meramac 4 tent is perfect for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a few other cool things not mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent., There are extra-large #8 zippers on the door and vestibule and The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection.

With excellent ratings, lots of reviews and a minimum headroom of 5' and 64 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. It will allow you and up to 2 other people to share some really enjoyable time exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this page looking for recommendations on this specific tent, our view is, it will make for a very good purchase. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent before, it is probably a good thing to check out some other similar tents.

Value for money: When considering value for your money, this tent is undoubtedly more competitive than the standard price of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have studied, this alone by itself does not make it remarkable value for money. We also need to take into account other factors in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we determine the overall score of an individual tent, we look at a lot of things, searching for things where the tent could beat other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.8 and the price statistics above, It is simple to observe that with a cost of $149.99 The Meramac 4 is a very good purchase and astonishingly priced in comparison with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent offers were not in any way skimped on to arrive at a price tag unquestionably below the average price for comparable tents. It is also worth noting it is marked down by 0% from the manufactures suggested price. It should make an exceptional choice for nearly all people searching for an adequate three-season dome tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
