Summary: Favorable Reviews

Worthy of your money. Correct about its waterproof capability. I tried it during the rain, and it kept me dry all night long.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

A small thing concerning this tent is I wish the mesh were a bit higher because to give some privacy for the people inside. The ventilation wasn't that good enough also especially during scorching weather, but you can still adjust by removing the fly.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Meramac 4 has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 5' 0 which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 129 other 4 person tents we have studied. With 64 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers during the 3-seasons this tent is approved for. Smaller tents similar to this one often make an ideal choice for people who appreciate spending loads of time outside their tent getting some air.

Some of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the other sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent will have a square floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is typically thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Meramac can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Meramac's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Lots of Positive Reviews The Meramac 4 has Lots of very good Reviews
  8. Available in other sizes. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $133.40 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Meramac 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 129 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you must keep them inside the tent.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Meramac 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Meramac 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 11 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. Due to the size of the tent, one cannot store much stuff inside..
