Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

It is just an excellent replacement for my previous Big Agnes Tent. It is not that large when compared to my earlier tent, but I was looking for a light-weight type this time. So, I am pleased with this tent.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

There's a need to stake the tent correctly. Even though it is free-standing, this is not an assurance that it can stand up against strong winds, without staking.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Copper Spur 2 HV UL mtnGLO has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 4, which is 11 inches less than the average height of the 204 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 29 square feet of room inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one make a very good choice for people who enjoy spending loads of hours outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the other sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top. The most basic dome tent should have a square footprint, sloped walls two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Copper Spur HV UL mtnGLO can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  6. Other sizes are available. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $334.95 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 29 square feet, the Copper Spur 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Copper Spur 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Polyurethane-coated ripstop nylon, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

Our Ratings: 3.7 STARS

Big Agnes's Copper Spur 2 HV UL mtnGLO tent is perfect for backpacking. Here are a few other things not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Tent body is proprietary patterned random rip-stop nylon breathable and polyester mesh, Light routing that keeps the light above your head on the ceiling where you need it most and High volume angle hub increases strength by 25% and the usable interior volume by 20% when compared to previous versions of the Copper Spur.

With acceptable ratings, a decent amount of reviews and a peak height of 3' and 29 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your own miniature studio. This will enable you to enjoy some delightful moments in the outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you found this page looking for an endorsement about this particular tent, we think, it would make for an ok purchase. In case you just happened to land on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this model previously, it is perhaps a good idea to check out a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: When considering value for your dollar, this tent is more competitive than the standard price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have studied, all alone this does not make it great value for money. We also need to take a look at other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we calculate the overall score of an individual tent, we scrutinize plenty of conditions, looking for areas where the tent could exceed other similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total rating of 3.7 and the price info above, It is simple to identify that with a cost of $334.95 info_outline The Copper Spur 2 HV UL mtnGLO is a decent bargain and competitively priced in comparison with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and size the tent offers may have been lightly skimped on to obtain a price tag undoubtedly under the average price for similar tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is marked down by 33% from the manufactures MSRP. It could make a good choice for most people looking for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to go camping with, that should serve you well.
