Summary: Favorable Reviews

It's surprisingly roomy. Very light and cozy inside. It has been my partner for my last four camping trips. Unbelievably durable. Thumbs up to the makers.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I would rate it as an average tent. It is not the best tent in its class. Durability will depend on how you use it. It will surely last if you take very good care of it.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Copper Spur 1 HV UL has one door and a peak center height of 3' 2, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 60 various 1 person tents we have studied. With 20 square feet of space inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you all through the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one are an excellent choice for people who love spending heaps of hours outside the tent exploring.

Many of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped walls a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Copper Spur HV UL can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. Breathable. The Copper Spur's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  6. Available in other sizes. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Copper Spur 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 60 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 7% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Copper Spur 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Proprietary patterned random rip-stop nylon , it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
