Summary: Favorable Reviews

Currently, there are no campers who have used the new 2020 Tungsten Ultralight 3p tent and written a review yet! The build and style are nearly identical to the older Tugsten UL 3 Model, which has lots of reviews. Campers who purchased the tent said: It was the best tent ever. The rain fly with its vestibule worked well in blowing rain and hail, keeping the inside of the tent dry. The set up was easy and quick for one person. The tent is spacious inside. The size to weight ratio of the tent was excellent. For as light as it is, I was expecting something smaller. The dual doors and vestibules were a convenient feature for keeping the tent clutter and dirt free.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Currently, there are no people who have used the new 2020 Tungsten Ultralight 3 person tent and written a review yet! The build and style are nearly identical to the older Tugsten UL 3 Model, which has lots of reviews. Drips of water were noted at the vent on the leeward side while we were brushed by tropical storm Alberto's rainbands. Poles are not the strongest.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Tungsten 3 Ultralight 2020 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 10, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 141 different 3 person tents we have examined With 42 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 3-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to two other campers all through the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one often make a really nice choice for people who like spending lots of time outside of their tent exploring.

A few of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped sides a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Underneath you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Tungsten Ultralight 2020 can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is Polyester Ripstop, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Tungsten's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Other sizes are available. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 42 square feet, the Tungsten 3 is smaller than quite a few of the 141 other 3 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 8% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Polyester Ripstop but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  4. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
