Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent said: They were super happy with the purchase. This tent is fantastic for backpacking and festivals. It easily packs into a backpack, and it also comfortably fits a queen air mattress. The shade provided by the front fly was much appreciated. One person mentioned they were pleased when they woke up, and there was a rainstorm outside, but the inside of the tent was completely dry.

The Mantis Plus 2 has one door and a peak center height of 4' 7, which is a little bit bigger than the average height of the 204 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 44 square feet of room inside, it is significantly larger than some other 2-person tents, and it easily offers enough room for you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one can generally make a good choice for people that prefer spending loads of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them easy to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, slanted walls two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can browse a list of the tent's pros and cons.

Click or Tap on the Tab you Want to See!

  1. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  3. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D Polyester Taffeta 190T F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  4. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  5. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 2 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $236

  1. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 68D Polyester Taffeta 190T F/R but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  2. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we checked.
  3. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Mantis Plus 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

4.5 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.5 STARS

Marmot's Mantis Plus 2 tent is suitable for backpacking. Here are a couple of other points not noted above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Removable Front Vestibule that Converts into a Roomy Awning, Interior Pockets for Small Gear Organization and A seam-sealed weatherproof fly ensures protection in inclement weather.

With good ratings, a couple of reviews and headroom of 4' and 44 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your very own miniature studio. This will enable you to spend some real quality time camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions about this particular tent, we consider, it will make for an awesome purchase. If you simply happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this model previously, it is perhaps a good thing to check out a few other comparable tents also.

Value for money: In terms of value for your dollar, this tent is a cheaper than the average price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have studied, this alone does not make it remarkable value for money. One should also take into account other things in detail, as we do for each tent.

When we measure the valuation of an individual tent, we reflect upon a good deal of things, searching for things where the tent could outperform other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.5 and the price statistics above, we can recognize that with a cost of $236 The Mantis Plus 2 is a great bargain and fabulously competitively priced when compared with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the build and capacity the tent gives you were not compromised to finish up with a price tag unquestionably below the usual price for similar tents. It should make a superb choice for nearly all campers searching for an adequate three-season dome tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
