Summary: Favorable Reviews

Reviewers describe the Shortstix pole system is brilliant. It did well in the rain and was loved for all the little bike packing conveniences with straps to secure a helmet outside the tent etc. Low weight and small package size make this a great backpacking tent, lightweight, and easy setup make for a really excellent product! The tent remained dry during rain. Held up during winds greater than 20 mph.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Reviewers noted, Be wary of sharp objects under the floor, branches that can rub the fly, and don't yank on the zippers, etc. The same degree of reasonable care that should be used on any remote trip. Setup and takedown in winds can be a challenge.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Fly Creek 1 HV UL Bikepack has one door and a peak center height of 3' 2, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 64 other 1 person tents we have examined With 19 square feet of space inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you during the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a really nice choice for campers that like spending lots of hours outside the tent exploring.

A few of the great points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them simple to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

PROS

  1. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  3. Breathable. The Fly Creek's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  4. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  5. Available in other sizes. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 19 square feet, the Fly Creek 1 is smaller than quite a lot of the 64 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Fly Creek 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Nylon rip-stop, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
