Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

It is a top-notch tent. It gives you an extensive interior where you could even fit two persons, at a push inside of it. The poles are strong and lite.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

It definitely gives you enough ventilation. However, it would have an adverse effect when it is freezing. That's just the other side of the story.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Fly Creek 1 HV Platinum has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 3, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 64 various 1 person tents we have examined With 20 square feet of room inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one often can make an awesome choice for campers who appreciate spending loads of time outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Fly Creek HV Platinum can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. Breathable. The Fly Creek's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  6. Available in other sizes. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Fly Creek 1 is smaller than quite a lot of the 64 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Fly Creek 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Nylon rip-stop, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
