Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Heavy rain is just a no, no for this tent. I used it during my camping trip. It was all right at first, but after I encountered a torrential downpour, it leaked a little.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Fly Creek 2 HV Platinum has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 4, which is 11 inches less than the average height of the 204 various 2 person tents we have examined With 28 square feet of space inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, another camper throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one generally make a good choice for campers who enjoy spending heaps of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them easy to carry around. In near all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, sloped sides a couple of poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Fly Creek HV Platinum can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Offers you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Breathable. The Fly Creek's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  6. Other sizes are available. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 28 square feet, the Fly Creek 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Fly Creek 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Nylon rip-stop, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

Value for money: In terms of value for money, this tent is a more expensive than the standard price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have studied, this by itself is not a negative thing. One should also think about other areas in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the ratings of an individual tent, we study loads of stuff, searching for points where the tent could outperform other similar tents and where it is not quite as good.
