SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Bunk House 4 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 5' 10, which is a tiny bit bigger than the average height of the 138 different 4 person tents we have studied. With 58 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one generally make a really nice choice for campers who like spending plenty of time outside the tent exploring.

Something we like about cabin tents is, that the walls of the tent are basically vertical making for a larger interior, this makes for a lot more headroom at the sides of the tent, making it feel much bigger than a dome tent, in general the floor areas are quite large compared to other tents. Normally cabin tents most often used by groups going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. This dose though make them well suited to colder months.

Below you can see a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Bunk House can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 7% more headroom than similar size tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Offers you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  4. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  5. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  6. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  7. More than one window. With 2 openings it is easier to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  8. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  9. Other sizes are available. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Bunk House may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 58 square feet, the Bunk House 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 138 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Bunk House 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Polyester, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Bunk House 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 15 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents

CONCLUSION

4.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

Big Agnes's Bunk House 4 tent is great for car camping. There are a few other points not mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: The oversized front vestibule is pole supported to create a covered awning and dry entry and exit. , Quick Stash door keeper on tent body doors makes stowing unzipped doors quick and easy and Pole-securement points located on interior of rainfly provide perfect pitch and extra stability.

With favorable ratings, and a center height of 5' and 58 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own miniature flat. This will enable you and up to 2 other friends to spend some real quality moments enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for an endorsement about this particular tent, we consider, it would make for an excellent purchase. If you simply happened to arrive on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this tent previously, it is possibly a good thing to check out a few more similar tents also.

Value for money: When considering value for money, this tent is more costly than the normal cost of all the one hundred and fifty-eight, four-person tents we have studied, all alone this is not a negative thing. We also need to think about other things in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we determine the valuation of a tent, we examine plenty of things, searching for points where the tent could exceed other comparable tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total score of 4.4 and the price info above, we can see that with a cost of $479.95 info_outline Big Agnes's Bunk House 4 is a great bargain though it may be perceived as a little costly when set side by side with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the build and space the tent provides make it a very good buy for campers wanting a tent that will last for plenty of years. It should make a good choice for most people looking for a comfy three-season cabin tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
