Summary: Favorable Reviews

Quality of the tent is recommended. It truly accommodates four people as advertised. Can set it up all by yourself in about 10 minutes. Perfect for people that have a 6 feet height. Windows were pretty huge also.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

The fabric around the door zipper was kind of tight when closing it. You need to take a look at it, especially when you are setting it up with a child. It needs to be stake it out properly for windy conditions. The tent is well ventilated though even if you closed it all, it might still give a cold feeling during night time.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Camp Creek 4 has four windows and one door and a peak center height of 7' 0, which is 20 inches more than the average height of the 134 various 4 person tents we have studied. With 64 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one make a really good choice for campers who prefer spending heaps of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

One of the sweet One of the sweet things about cabin tents is, that the walls of the tent are basically vertical creating a spacious interior, this allows for a lot more headroom at the sides inside, making it feel much bigger than other types of tents, they also, tend to have large sleeping areas, making them great for groups. In general cabin tents will be used by people going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. This dose though make them well suited to cooler months.

Below you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Camp Creek can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 20% more headroom than similar size tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Alps Mountaineering has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
  5. More than one window. With 4 openings it is simple to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Tons of Positive Reviews The Camp Creek 4 has Lots of great Reviews
  7. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 4 person cabin tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $132.73

CONS

  1. Sensitive to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Camp Creek may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Camp Creek 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you will have to keep them inside the tent.
  4. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it might not protect against heavy downpours.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Camp Creek 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 150D polyester oxford, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Camp Creek 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 20 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Storage Space. Due to the size of the tent, one cannot store a lot of gear inside..
