Tent Set Up

Can be set up alone

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

A lot of space inside, and has great height as well. Even tall people can stand inside with almost no problem. Easy to set up. Holds up well against thunderstorms.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

The shock cords in the poles can be brittle and snap easily. A few sleeves are also hard to thread the poles into, and too much tension can cause tears. Zippers may also snag the fabric in some places.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Desert Canyon 4 has three windows and one door and a peak center height of 7' 0, which is 21 inches bigger than the average height of the 140 other 4 person tents we have examined With 64 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one make an ideal choice for people that welcome spending loads of time outside their tent getting some air.

One of the sweet One of the sweet things about cabin tents is, that the sides of the tent are near vertical creating a spacious interior, this gives you much more headroom at the sides inside, making it feel much bigger than other types of tents, most of the time, they tend to have large floor areas, so they are great for larger groups. Normally cabin tents most often used by families going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. This dose though make them better suited to colder nights.

Beneath you can find a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Desert Canyon can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Lots of Headroom. With 21% more headroom than similar size tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  5. More than one window. With 3 windows it is easier to keep the tent cooler on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Desert Canyon's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great buy for a 4 person cabin tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $299.95

CONS

  1. Vulnerable to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Desert Canyon may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Desert Canyon 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 140 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you must keep them inside the tent.
  4. Rainfly does not completely cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it might not protect against heavy rain.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 75D 185T Polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Desert Canyon 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 19 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store a lot of stuff inside..

CONCLUSION

4.7 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.7 STARS

Eureka's Desert Canyon 4 tent is really good for car camping. There are a couple of other cool things not noted above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: Ideal for backyards, festivals, and family campgrounds, Near-vertical walls in this cabin-style tent dramatically increase interior space and The extended eave construction provides a completely dry entryway and allows for the fly and frame to be used alone to create an open-walled sunshade.

With great ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 7' and 64 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your very own modest flat. This will enable you and up to 2 other campers to enjoy some real quality time exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can look at above.

If you came to this website looking for recommendations about this actual tent, we consider, it would make for a good buy. If you just happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent before, it is perhaps a good thing to look at some other comparable tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is a more competitive than the standard price of all the one hundred and fifty-nine, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it remarkable value for money. We also need to think about other factors in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we measure the overall score of an individual tent, we examine a lot of data points, looking for points where the tent could outshine other near-identical tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total rating of 4.7 and the price details above, It is simple enough to identify that with a price of $299.95 The Desert Canyon 4 is a decent bargain and incredibly competitively priced in comparison with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent provides were not compromised to finish up with a price significantly under the standard price for comparable tents. It is also worth noting it is reduced by 0% from the manufactures MSRP. It should make a superb choice for most people looking for an appropriate three-season cabin tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
