Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent said: The tent is made from top quality materials. The tent and fly were very easy & quick to setup. The cost is reasonable compared to other tents. It has an excellent interior size and big doorways. During the rain, the tent floor and rain fly did not leak. The footprint also did a great job in keeping the bottom of the tent clean. Plus, the groundsheet and a gear loft are not sold separately, which made it a better deal than other tents.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some campers who used this tent said: It was a nice tent, but some of its parts are not the best of quality. The zippers started to stick after a while. The poles used are good but started to bend after some use. Although there is a lot of ventilation without the rainfly, not using it would compromise privacy. Extra care should be taken, especially when using it in heavy rain.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Morrison 4 Evo has two doors and a peak center height of 4' 3, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 152 different 4 person tents we have studied. With 56 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to three other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make an ideal choice for people who like spending plenty of time outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the other sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the roof. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular floor, sloped walls two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Morrison Evo can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Mountainsmith has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D x 190td Poly F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with the tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to pay extra for one is a plus.
  7. Awesome Ratings The Morrison 4 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  8. Available in other sizes. Mountainsmith has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $249.95

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 56 square feet, the Morrison 4 is smaller than quite a lot of the 153 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 10% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Morrison 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.7 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.7 STARS

Mountainsmith's Morrison 4 Evo tent is suitable for bicycle & motorbike camping. Here are a couple of other nice points not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Clip-pole attachment for lighter weight and better breathability, The Set-up instructions are printed on stuffsack and It has a constructed bathtub floor .

With exceptional ratings, lots of reviews and a center height of 4' and 56 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own modest flat. It will enable you together with 2 other people to share some really enjoyable moments enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can look at above.

If you found this page looking for an endorsement on this particular tent, we think, it should make for an awesome purchase. In case you just happened to arrive on this website while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this brand or this model before, it is perhaps a good idea to check out some more comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your dollar, this tent is a lot more competitive than the average price of all the one hundred and fifty-two, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone does not make it remarkable value for money. One should also think about other factors in detail, as we do for each tent.

When we calculate the score of an individual tent, we examine tons of areas, searching for areas where the tent could beat out other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with a total rating of 4.7 and the price details above, we can notice that with a cost of $249.95 Mountainsmith's Morrison 4 Evo is an awesome purchase and fabulously priced in comparison with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent provides were not in any way skimped on to finish up with a price tag well beneath the usual price for comparable tents. It could make a very good choice for most campers looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to go camping with, that will serve you well for years to come.
