Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent said: The tent is made from top quality materials. The tent and fly were very easy & quick to setup. The cost is reasonable compared to other tents. It has an excellent interior size and big doorways. During the rain, the tent floor and rain fly did not leak. The footprint also did a great job in keeping the bottom of the tent clean. Plus, the groundsheet and a gear loft are not sold separately, which made it a better deal than other tents.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some campers who used this tent said: It was a nice tent, but some of its parts are not the best of quality. The zippers started to stick after a while. The poles used are good but started to bend after some use. Although there is a lot of ventilation without the rainfly, not using it would compromise privacy. Extra care should be taken, especially when using it in heavy rain.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Morrison 3 Evo has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 9, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 158 other 3 person tents we have examined With 47 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 3-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, up to two other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one generally make a very nice choice for campers that love spending lots of time outside their tent getting some air.

Many of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking light, making them simple to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent will have a square floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Morrison Evo can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Mountainsmith has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D x 190td Poly F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Includes FootPrint. It is not often we see a footprint included with a tent. It is suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to pay extra for one is a bonus.
  7. Available in other sizes. Mountainsmith has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great buy for a 3 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $224.95

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  2. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is no longer available elsewhere, that we know of.
  3. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Morrison 3, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.5 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.5 STARS

There are a couple of other things not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Clip-pole attachment for lighter weight and better breathability, The Set-up instructions are printed on stuffsack and It has a constructed bathtub floor .

With awesome ratings, and a peak height of 3' and 47 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own modest home away from home. It enables you together with 2 other people to enjoy some really enjoyable time enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this website looking for an endorsement about this specific tent, our view is, it should make for an excellent acquisition. In case you simply happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this model previously, it is probably a good idea to check out a few other similar tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your money, this tent is undoubtedly more competitive than the average cost of all the one hundred and fifty-eight, three-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone by itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to take a look at other areas in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we calculate the valuation of an individual tent, we consider plenty of conditions, finding things where the tent could excel against other similar tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.5 and the price knowledge above, It is simple to observe that with a ticket price of $224.95 Mountainsmith's Morrison 3 Evo is an excellent buy and fabulously cheap in comparison with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent gives you were not in any way compromised to finish up with a price tag unquestionably under the standard price for similar tents. It could make a very good choice for most people searching for an appropriate three-season dome tent to camp with, that will serve you well for years to come.
