Tent Set Up

It sets up easily and quickly

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers mentioned It stands up to 30-35 mph wind, pouring rain without a single leak. I love the benefit of the light system on the inside. Light, sturdy, sets up, breaks down, and packs quickly and full of great features. I had to set this tent up using mostly moon-light. It was a breeze. One day it dumped buckets of rain, yet the inside stayed warm and dry. Side entry was grand, and the vestibule is roomy, comfortable to access from within the tent, and kept my bags dry during a storm.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Reviews said Zippers are not that tough. I'm 5'9" tall, and the tent is perfect. If I were 6' or taller, I might not be happy in it. If you want the rain fly to be useful, you'll need to be able to stake it out. The only issue I have is the wiring on the light system is messed up, so I have to exchange it for a new one, so be careful with that feature while packing it up.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Rattlesnake 1 SL mtnGLO has one door and a peak center height of 3' 1, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 68 other 1 person tents we have examined With 23 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can make a very good choice for campers who prefer spending lots of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Rattlesnake SL mtnGLO can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  5. If you are looking for this actual tent, you are in luck it has been discontinued on the manufactures website, but is still available elsewhere.
  6. Other sizes are available. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great deal for a 1 person dome tent providing this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $229.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 23 square feet, the Rattlesnake 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 68 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 7% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Ripstop nylon but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Big Agnes's Rattlesnake 1 SL mtnGLO tent is really good for backpacking. There are a few other points not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Winner of Backpacker magazine's 2015 Editors' Choice Award for its built-in LED lighting, The vestibule on both sides is handy for storing a few items and Reflective guylines and webbing on tent corners.

With wonderful ratings, a few reviews and headroom of 3' and 23 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own modest studio. This will allow you to enjoy some delightful moments hanging out with nature. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this website looking for suggestions on this particular tent, our view is, it would make for a great acquisition. If you just happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this model previously, it is possibly a good thing to look at some more similar tents also.

Value for money: When contemplating value for money, this tent is cheaper than the normal cost of all the one hundred and six, one-person tents we have studied, this itself does not make it good value for money. One should also look at other things in detail, as we do for each tent.

When we tally up the valuation of a tent, we look at loads of conditions, looking for points where the tent could shine against other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.2 and the price data above, we can identify that with a price of $229.99 info_outline Big Agnes's Rattlesnake 1 SL mtnGLO is a decent bargain and cheap in comparison with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent provides were not skimped on to finish up with a price tag significantly below the normal price for comparable tents. It is also worth noting it is marked down by 23% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It will make a superb choice for nearly all campers looking for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
