Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Browning is not known for manufacturing tents, so balanced reviews are scarce. The price may indicate the quality, so there may be some minor compromises in terms of materials to get to this price point.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Granite Creek 2 has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 5, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 204 different 2 person tents we have studied. With 29 square feet of space inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often make a suitable choice for campers that like spending plenty of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them easy to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most common of all the other types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The simplest dome tent will have a square footprint, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Granite Creek can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Browning Camping adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is simple to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T polyester taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  7. Breathable. The Granite Creek's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  8. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  9. Available in other sizes. Browning Camping has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $149.99

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 29 square feet, the Granite Creek 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 10% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Granite Creek 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T polyester taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Browning Camping's Granite Creek 2 tent is good for backpacking. There are a couple of other nice points not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Vertical walls increase interior space, Weatherproof fly buckles on for maximum adjustability and protection and Factory-sealed fly and floor seams provide best weather protection.

With good ratings, and a peak height of 3' and 29 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. It will enable you to enjoy some really enjoyable moments camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this page looking for suggestions about this particular tent, we consider, it will make for a good acquisition. If you simply happened to land on this page while browsing for a new tent having never heard of this brand or this tent model before, it is probably a good thing to look at some other similar tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for money, this tent is without a doubt more competitive than the usual price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself does not make it remarkable value for money. One should also take a look at other things in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we calculate the ratings of an individual tent, we examine tons of things, searching for things where the tent could beat other similar tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.3 and the price details above, we can recognize that with a price of $149.99 Browning Camping's Granite Creek 2 is a decent deal and fabulously cheap in comparison with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent offers were not compromised to arrive at a price tag well under the normal price for similar tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is discounted by 0% from the manufactures MSRP. It should make a remarkable choice for most people looking for a comfortable three-season backpacking tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
