Summary: Favorable Reviews

Some campers who used the tent said: This tent actually works. It is easy to pitch, quality-wise, and proven effective in protecting against bugs during night time. The materials used are also fantastic. Heavy rains and winds are not even a problem since it gives maximum weather protection during these conditions.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some people who used the tent said: It is a single-wall floorless tent so putting something on the floor when you sleep is a must. Ventilation needs to be improved, especially during hot days. It would be best if you also had a more sturdy tent plus fly setup since this might hold up pretty well during winter. But still, a decent tent during normal weather conditions.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Spike 2 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 11, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 235 other 2 person tents we have examined With 41 square feet of room inside, it is a lot larger than some other 2-person tents, and it easily offers enough room for you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a good choice for campers who love spending lots of time outside the tent exploring.

Many of the cool things about a-frame tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them easy to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the a-frame type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

A-frame tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the roof. The simplest a-frame tent will have a rectangular footprint, slanted sides two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can check out an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see Nemo Equipment has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  3. Has awnings. The awnings protect the sides of the tent.
  4. If you are searching for this actual tent, you are in luck it has been discontinued on the manufactures website, but is still available elsewhere.
  5. Other sizes are available. Nemo Equipment has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  6. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person a-frame tent that provides this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $249.95

CONS

  1. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of tough fabric but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.

CONCLUSION

4.3 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.3 STARS

Nemo Equipment's Spike 2 tent is perfect for backpacking. Here are a couple of other things not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: Floorless pyramid design accommodates 1 person and their gear, Constructed with silicone impregnated fabrics for superior strength and waterproofness and Partial floor under the foot section provides additional coverage and security.

With favorable ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 3' and 41 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your own little studio. This will allow you to enjoy some really enjoyable moments in the outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you found this website looking for recommendations on this actual tent, our view is, it would make for a good acquisition. If you simply happened to arrive on this website while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this brand or this tent before, it is possibly a good idea to check out a few more similar tents.

Value for money: As far as value for your money, this tent is without a doubt cheaper than the usual price of all the two hundred and thirty-five, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it awesome value for money. One should also take a look at other factors in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the overall score of a single tent, we reflect upon a lot of data points, finding areas where the tent could perform well against other similar tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.3 and the price info above, It is simple to notice that with a price point of $249.95 The Spike 2 is a fair bargain and astonishingly cheap when compared with comparable tents.

The overall score shows that the build and space the tent offers were not skimped on to get a price tag significantly below the normal price for comparable tents. It could make an exceptional choice for most people searching for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to camp in, that will serve you well for years to come.
