Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who used the tent said: Satisfied with its performance up until now. I was able to use it in my multiple backpacking and bikepacking trips. It stands pretty well against winds and storms. The diffuser light pockets work really well. Set up and tear down of the tent is extremely easy and user friendly. The tent fly also has great coverage. Overall, It is not bad for its price.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some campers after using it said: Leaks appeared after using it under extreme weather conditions: strong winds and heavy rains I just too much for this tent. It also tends to create so much condensation build-up. The tent fly is excellent in terms of coverage. However, the quality is terrible and the ventilation is compromised because of that. Maybe, with some redesign and modifications, it might actually be great.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Dagger 2 Ultralight has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 6, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 235 different 2 person tents we have studied. With 31 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one often make a suitable choice for people that like spending plenty of time outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the other sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent will have a square floor, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can browse a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Dagger Ultralight can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Nemo Equipment has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 30D PeU Nylon Ripstop, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Other sizes are available. Nemo Equipment has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great buy for a 2 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $429.95

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 31 square feet, the Dagger 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 246 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 7% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Rainfly does not completely cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it might not protect against heavy downpours.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Dagger 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 30D PeU Nylon Ripstop, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we checked.
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Nemo Equipment's Dagger 2 Ultralight tent is good for backpacking. There are a couple of other points not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Color-coded anodized poles and matched webbing for an intuitive set up, Divvy Sack dual-stage stuff sack allows you to split the load with a hiking partner and Protected strut vents at the top of each zipper flap ensure greater ventilation, especially during a storm..

With favorable ratings, quite a few reviews and a center height of 3' and 31 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own little home away from home. It enables you to spend some really enjoyable moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you came to this website looking for an endorsement on this actual tent, we think, it would make for a great acquisition. In case you just happened to arrive on this website while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this model before, it is possibly a good thing to look at some other similar tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for your money, this tent is more competitive than the normal price point of all the two hundred and thirty-five, two-person tents we have studied, this alone does not make it good value for money. We also need to look at other factors in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we measure the score of an individual tent, we regard plenty of things, finding points where the tent could outdo other very similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall score of 4.2 and the price knowledge above, It is simple enough to notice that with a price of $429.95 Nemo Equipment's Dagger 2 Ultralight is a great purchase and competitively priced when compared with similar tents.

The ratings show that the build and capacity the tent provides were not skimped on to obtain a price tag undoubtedly under the normal price for similar tents. It should make a very good choice for most people searching for a comfy three-season backpacking tent to camp with, that will serve you well for years to come.
