Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers mentioned: That they loved this tent! It was straightforward to set up, and the vestibule is enormous. That they bought this tent for car camping and festival camping, and it's brilliant. One camper's parents borrowed this for a festival as well, and they had no trouble setting it up. It's also very spacious. These pictures do not do it justice. You can comfortably fit a bunch of people on small chairs in the vestibule when closed.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers noted: The dealbreaker for me is that there's no way to get enough ventilation on a hot summer night with the fly and vestibule in place. No rear door, so it gets sweltering in the tent. It's also smaller than it looks online in the pictures. It is of decent quality but not as good as some other tents in the same price range. The tent is also far too large and not adjustable. It is a bit difficult to set up.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Orbit 4 has one door and a maximum center height of 5' 3, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 134 various 4 person tents we have studied. With 59 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one often can make a nice choice for people that enjoy spending lots of hours outside of their tent exploring.

A few of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them easy to carry. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in storms than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Orbit can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D Polyester Taffeta 190T F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  5. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  6. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 4 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $499

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 59 square feet, the Orbit 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Orbit 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 68D Polyester Taffeta 190T F/R, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Orbit 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 16 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.5 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.5 STARS

Marmot's Orbit 4 tent is good for car camping. Here are a few other things not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: The Orbit 4P has a gigantic canopy front porch with removable vestibule and awning door, This easy-to-set-up freestanding tent has plenty of interior pockets to organize and store essentials and Lamp Shade Pocket Securely Holds Your Headlamp to Provide Ambient Light.

With very good ratings, a couple of reviews and a minimum headroom of 5' and 59 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own small flat. This allows you and up to 2 other campers to share some really enjoyable moments in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions on this actual tent, our view is, it will make for an excellent purchase. If you simply happened to arrive on this website while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this brand or this model previously, it is probably a good thing to check out a few other similar tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is more competitive than the standard price of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone by itself does not make it good value for money. We also need to take into account other factors in-depth, as we do with every tent.

When we measure the valuation of an individual tent, we look at plenty of data points, finding things where the tent could outdo other comparable tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.5 and the price statistics above, It is simple enough to recognize that with a cost of $499 Marmot's Orbit 4 is a fantastic purchase and reasonably priced when compared with comparable tents.

Its overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent provides were not in any way skimped on to obtain a price tag unquestionably under the average price for comparable tents. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is marked down by 0% from the manufactures suggested price. It should make an excellent choice for most campers looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
