Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent mentioned: It was easy to set up taking about 15 mins even on their very first try with a 15 mph wind. The inside is roomy, and the material quality is excellent. Awesome tent overall. There is a considerable amount of room for family camping and a vast rain fly that completely covers the tent. The waterproofing was totally amazing. The vents worked well, and the tent was comfortable in all conditions. The poles are very sturdy, and the guy-lines were sufficient to withstand moderate winds with no problem.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who bought the tent noted: One of the cons with this tent was that the stakes included were just enough for the tent and the rain fly alone. Additional stakes are needed when using the offset side guy lines. It was extremely windy and rainy, and the weather demolished the tent. All poles were bent severely, and the tent collapsed in on us. When we took the tent apart, the poles were curved. We also got two rips in the tent, and it leaked a lot of water. All aspects of the tent were great except for the rainfly stitching and fabric, where the tensioning straps are joined to the walls. In three days, the fabric tore at the two attachments points for the vestibule.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Limestone 4 has two doors and a peak center height of 5' 3, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 134 other 4 person tents we have examined With 60 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one are a good choice for people who welcome spending plenty of time outside the tent exploring.

Some of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them simple to carry around. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the top. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular floor, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is usually thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Limestone can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150D 100% Polyester Oxford W/R F/R, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Limestone's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. Fantastic Ratings The Limestone 4 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  8. Available in other sizes. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 4 person dome tent providing this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $389

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 60 square feet, the Limestone 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Limestone 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 150D 100% Polyester Oxford W/R F/R, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Limestone 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 11 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

5 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 5.0 STARS

Marmot's Limestone 4 tent is good for bicycle & motorbike camping. There are a couple of other points not already mentioned above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: Zone Pre-Bend Construction Creates Vertical Walls, More Roomy Sleeping Area and Greater Head Room, Lamp Shade Pocket Securely Holds Your Headlamp to Provide Ambient Light and For family camping, when comfort counts.

With superb ratings, a few reviews and headroom of 5' and 60 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your own miniature home away from home. This allows you and up to 2 other campers to enjoy some real quality time camping together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this website looking for an endorsement on this specific tent, we consider, it would make for an excellent purchase. If you just happened to arrive on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent previously, it is probably a good thing to look at a few more comparable tents.

Value for money: In terms of value for money, this tent is cheaper than the usual price of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have studied, this alone by itself does not make it good value for money. One should also think about other areas in detail, as we do with every tent.

When we determine the score of a tent, we scrutinize loads of conditions, looking for points where the tent could perform well against other comparable tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with an overall score of 5.0 and the price data above, It is simple enough to conclude that with a price of $389 Marmot's Limestone 4 is a fantastic buy and cheap in comparison with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and space the tent gives you were not in any way compromised to get a price tag undoubtedly under the standard price for comparable tents. It should make an excellent choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to camp with, that will serve you well for years to come.
