Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

During rain, a footprint is needed. It might not come through, but moisture might come through the floor. The stakes are pretty decent. However, you might get some heavier duty stakes if you're going to use this in extreme conditions like high winds.

The Lynx 1 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 0 which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 60 different 1 person tents we have studied. With 20 square feet of room inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you during the whole of the 3-seasons this tent is recommended for. Smaller tents similar to this one generally make a suitable choice for people that like spending heaps of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular floor, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can check out a list of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Lynx can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  5. Breathable. The Lynx's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Plenty of Positive Reviews The Lynx 1 has Lots of excellent Reviews
  8. Great Ratings The Lynx 1 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on
  9. Other sizes are available. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 1 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $89.99 info_outline

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Lynx 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 60 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Lynx 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  5. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store much gear inside..
