The Thru-Hiker Mesh House 2 Trekking Pole has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 2, which is 11 inches less than the average height of the 229 other 2 person tents we have examined With 30 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a very good choice for people who like spending heaps of time outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great points about a frame tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the a frame type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

A Frame tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward a frame tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Internal storage. It is nice to see MSR has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  2. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with a tent. It is strongly suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to pay extra for one is a bonus.
  3. Other sizes are available. MSR has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  4. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person a frame tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $199.95

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 30 square feet, the Thru-Hiker Mesh House 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 240 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  3. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you will have to keep them inside the tent.
  4. Storage Space. Due to the size of the tent, one cannot store much gear inside..
