Tent Set Up

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who purchased the tent mentioned: This tent is a breeze to set up and takedown. I'm 6' plus in height and 280lbs, and I've never hit the sides with my head or feet. There is plenty of room in the tent, even when I had my son and wife with me, and all of our gear. Amazing tent! We got about three inches of rain but we stayed completely dry. Two inches of rain pooled under the floor of the tent, but not a drop came through. Ventilation is great.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who bought the tent noted: Always connect the velcro loops between the rainfly and the polls. Otherwise, a small pool of water can form just above the rainfly door, and it will drain on your face when you exit the tent. It was a great tent. The only negative was the considerable amount of condensation on the underside of the vestibule fly.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Halo 6 2018 has two doors and a peak center height of 6' 4, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 107 different 6 person tents we have examined With 98 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to five other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one often make an excellent choice for campers who prefer spending loads of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which cross in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can check out an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Halo 2018 can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Marmot has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 150d 100% Polyester Oxford, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  7. Other sizes are available. Marmot has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Sensitive to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Halo may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 98 square feet, the Halo 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 107 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. Only one room. The Halo is suggested for 6 people, many other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Halo 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 150d 100% Polyester Oxford, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.7 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.7 STARS

Marmot's Halo 6 2018 tent is ideal for car camping. There are a couple of other nice points not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: Tons of livable space, thanks to its innvoative pole structure, An oversize double-door and side D-shaped door makes it easy for everyone to get in and out without creating a bottleneck and Ceiling and wall mesh panels and ground-level side vents allow good air circulation and offer views outside; rainfly vents lets moist air escape.

With excellent ratings, a decent amount of reviews and a peak height of 6' and 98 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own small home away from home. It will allow you together with 4 other people to share some delightful moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can study above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions on this specific tent, we consider, it will make for an awesome acquisition. In case you just happened to land on this page while looking for a new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this model previously, it is probably a good idea to look at some more similar tents.

Value for money: In terms of value for your money, this tent is without a doubt pricier than the usual price of all the one hundred and eight, six-person tents we have studied, this just by itself is not a negative thing. We also need to look at other areas in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we calculate the valuation of a single tent, we examine a good deal of stuff, looking for areas where the tent could exceed other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.7 and the price data above, It is simple enough to see that with a ticket price of $599 The Halo 6 2018 is an excellent purchase even though it may be considered quite costly when set side by side with similar tents.

The ratings show that the quality and size the tent offers make it an awesome purchase for people wanting a tent that will be used for many years. It will make a good choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfy three-season dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
