Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who purchased the tent noted: The walls are higher in this model, and it helps with the wind. It is a very easy tent to put up and take down. It was blowing around in a strong wind but had no leaks. They were able to camp in a bog, and no water or mud seeped in. The loft is incredible, well worth the extra purchase since the weight is negligible. High vented ceiling that would be easy for any camper to sit up and move around comfortably. While other tents I have had begun leaking and the poles have snapped, these tents remain strong with almost no issues whatsoever.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers who bought the tent mentioned: They would like to see smaller packaging so this tent can go into a compression bag to obtain more packing room. The only downside is the fly is made of a heavy material, which makes for a much heavier tent.

The Outfitter Pro 4 has two doors and a peak center height of 4' 4, which is 11 inches smaller than the average height of the 134 various 4 person tents we have examined With 60 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to three other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a superb choice for campers who love spending loads of hours outside their tent getting some air.

A few of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in storms than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

Click or Tap on the Tab you Want to See!

  1. Freestanding. The Outfitter Pro can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Kelty has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 210D Nylon, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Outfitter Pro's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Available in other sizes. Kelty has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $359.95

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 60 square feet, the Outfitter Pro 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Outfitter Pro 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D Nylon, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures website and is no longer available elsewhere, that we know of.
  6. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Outfitter Pro 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

With good ratings, quite a few reviews and a peak height of 4' and 60 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your own small flat. This will allow you and up to 2 other campers to share some really enjoyable time camping together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can study above.

If you came to this page looking for suggestions about this specific tent, we consider, it will make for a good acquisition. In case you just happened to land on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacurer or this tent previously, it is possibly a good idea to check out some other comparable tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is cheaper than the normal cost of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself does not make it great value for money. One should also think about other factors in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we calculate the score of a tent, we study a lot of areas, looking for things where the tent could exceed other similar tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.3 and the price data above, It is simple to view that with a price of $359.95 The Outfitter Pro 4 is a decent buy and cheap in comparison with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent gives you were not skimped on to obtain a price undoubtedly beneath the normal price for comparable tents. It could make an awesome choice for most people looking for an appropriate three-season dome tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
