Tent Set Up

Set-up is a breeze.

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

The tent keeps the inside dry in the rain. Fully zippable windows keeps dust and water out. Easy to set up and take down. Good value.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Kind of heavy for backpacking. Could not fit 2 comfortably, but it does fit 1 nicely. No back door. Can be hard to set up by one person. Bottom zipper can get jammed, and can leak water sometimes.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Timberline 2 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 6, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 220 other 2 person tents we have examined With 38 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one make a superb choice for people that welcome spending lots of hours outside of their tent exploring.

Some of the great points about a frame tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the a frame type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

A Frame tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The most straightforward a frame tent will have a square footprint, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is usually thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can check out a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Timberline can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  3. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  4. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  5. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person a frame tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $229.95

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 8% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  2. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you must store them inside the tent.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 75D 210T StormShield polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Timberline 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
