Fitting four adults may not be a good idea. The inside will feel cramped if so. It's still possible, but there will be no space for gear.

The Timberline 4 SQ XT has two doors and a maximum center height of 4' 9, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 141 different 4 person tents we have studied. With 61 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to three other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one often make a really good choice for people that like spending heaps of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Some of the great things about a frame tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the a frame type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

A Frame tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic a frame tent will have a rectangular footprint, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is generally considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Timberline SQ XT can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  3. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  4. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1000mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  5. Lots of Positive Reviews The Timberline 4 has Lots of awesome Reviews
  6. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  7. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person a frame tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $329.95 info_outline

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 61 square feet, the Timberline 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 141 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need keep them inside the tent.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 75D 190T StormShield polyester taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  6. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.
  7. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Timberline 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 10 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  8. Storage Space. Due to the size of the tent, one cannot store much stuff inside..
