Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers noted: That the tent is very breathable and great for summer nights. A 9 year old set the tent up in 30 minutes on her own the first time. Survived a super strong storm with no leaks. Ideal for Stargazing. Well made for the money. The floor is nice and thick.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Granite Falls 2 has two windows and one door and a peak center height of 4' 4, which is a tiny bit more than the average height of the 204 different 2 person tents we have examined With 37 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one can generally make a suitable choice for campers that enjoy spending plenty of time outside of their tent exploring.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them easy to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the other sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The most straightforward dome tent should have a rectangular floor, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can check out a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Granite Falls can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Cedar Ridge adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Granite Falls's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Other sizes are available. Cedar Ridge has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 2 person dome tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $89.99

CONS

  1. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Granite Falls 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Tub Style, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  2. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Granite Falls 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  3. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
