Tent Set Up

Color-coded webbing and poles makes for an easy set up.

Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent mentioned: That on a four-day hike, the tent performed flawlessly. It was light and easy to set up and offered ample room. The shelter is super easy to set up, given the color coding on the poles and tent straps, and the inside was very roomie. Taking the mesh down lower meant I could wake up and see the sights without sitting up really rocks!

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Campers, who purchased the tent said: The Tuffly has 2 top poles that support the rainfly and give the tent its shape. Unfortunately, the two poles create depressions in the rainfly above the doors. With heavy rainfall, these depressions fill with water.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Tufly 2 SL+ has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 7, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 204 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 32 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one are a really good choice for people who love spending heaps of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

A few of the fantastic things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted walls two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can find an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Tufly SL+ can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  6. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person dome tent providing this much room. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $399.95

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 32 square feet, the Tufly 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 8% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of Ripstop polyester but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures website and is not available elsewhere, that we know of.
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of attributes to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is cheaper than the usual price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone does not make it good value for money. One should also take a look at other things in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we calculate the valuation of a single tent, we scrutinize tons of conditions, finding points where the tent could outperform other near-identical tents and where it is coming up short. On this occasion, with a total rating of 4.2 and the price data above, It is simple enough to view that with a cost of $399.95 Big Agnes's Tufly 2 SL+ is a great bargain and reasonably priced when compared with similar tents.
