Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers said: This tent is ideal because it is portable, light, and simple to assemble. It will hold up under most circumstances if you set it up properly.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

People who bought it said: When zipping and unzipping either door, be cautious. When you apply a lot of force to it, it becomes little vulnerable. When assembling or disassembling, you should also take care of the fabric. It wouldn't tear if you paid closer attention to it.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Felis 2 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 10, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 243 various 2 person tents we have examined With 37 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit larger than some other 2-person tents, and it should accommodate you and, another camper during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one can generally make a superb choice for people who appreciate spending plenty of hours outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking light, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent will have a square floor, slanted sides two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Beneath you can see a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Felis can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  5. Breathable. The Felis's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  7. Available in other sizes. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $199.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Felis 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  2. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
