With 56 square feet of space inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, up to three other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a very good choice for people who like spending lots of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

One of the main advantages of cabin tents is, that the walls of the tent are near vertical creating a sizeable interior, this gives you a lot more headroom at the sides of the tent, making it feel much bigger than a dome tent, in general the floor areas are quite large compared to other tents. Normally cabin tents are used by groups going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. It dose though make them well suited to colder months.

1. Freestanding. The Big House Gold can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Big Agnes adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
4. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the walls of the tent.
5. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
6. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
8. Other sizes are available. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
9. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 4 person cabin tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $299.95

CONS

1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 56 square feet, the Big House 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Big House 4 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Polyester, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
3. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.
4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Big House 4, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
