Summary: Favorable Reviews

Double door and vestibules are what I am looking for in a tent, and that's what this tent gave me. I also love that they gave you two closure options for the doors. Absolutely bomb proof! Overall construction is solid.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I wish they had separate the closure options of the door since its a double setup. They could have included the footprint for this one. That would attract more buyers. It takes around 15 minutes to set up.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Battle Mountain 2 has one window and two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 6, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 204 different 2 person tents we have studied. With 31 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, another camper during the whole of the 4-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one generally make an ideal choice for campers that love spending lots of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

A few of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them simple to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular floor, sloped walls a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Battle Mountain can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Big Agnes adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Has awnings. The awnings shelter the sides of the tent.
  5. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  6. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is Nylon taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 10000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1200mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Other sizes are available. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 31 square feet, the Battle Mountain 2 is smaller than quite a lot of the 204 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Battle Mountain 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Nylon taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Battle Mountain 2, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 7 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of attributes to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
