Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

The number of persons that will fit here really depends on how big or small a person is. It can be for two persons or just for a single person. It's a bit heavy also. The design of it should be improved.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Mystique 2 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 4, which is 11 inches less than the average height of the 204 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 40 square feet of room inside, it is considerably larger than some other 2-person tents, and it easily offers enough room for you and, another camper during the 3-seasons, this tent is approved for use in, smaller tents like this one often can make an ideal choice for people that like spending plenty of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

A few of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the other types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted sides a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Underneath you can browse a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  5. Breathable. The Mystique's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Lots of Positive Reviews The Mystique 2 has Plenty of excellent Reviews
  8. Impressive Ratings The Mystique 2 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  9. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great deal for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $149.73

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 11% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Mystique 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have lots of things to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

Alps Mountaineering's Mystique 2 tent is great for backpacking. There are a couple of other points not noted above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: Fly vent can be kept open or closed, depending upon the weather, The Mystique is a 2 pole, non-freestanding tent and is the most lightweight model in our line. and Weatherproof fly provides a vestibule over each door.

This will enable you to enjoy some really enjoyable time exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you came to this page looking for an endorsement about this particular tent, our view is, it should make for a very good acquisition. If you simply happened to land on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this tent previously, it is perhaps a good thing to look at some other similar tents.

Value for money: As far as value for your dollar, this tent is unquestionably more competitive than the average price of all the two hundred and eighty-five, two-person tents we have studied, this by itself does not make it remarkable value for money. We also need to look at other things in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we tally up the overall score of an individual tent, we look at a good deal of data points, finding points where the tent could shine against other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with a total score of 4.9 and the price statistics above, we can observe that with a price of $149.73 Alps Mountaineering's Mystique 2 is a perfect bargain and astonishingly priced in comparison with comparable tents.

It should make an exceptional choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfortable three-season backpacking tent to go camping in, that should serve you well for years to come.
