Summary: Favorable Reviews

The instructions are very clear, and I didn't have any problem with them. Comfortable for sleeping, the rainfly just made the rain runoff. It kept me dry. I also love the bag that they provided for this tent.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

It's a solid tent, but we can't deny the fact that not all shelters are perfect. It has a few quirks. The internal storage pouches are oddly small. They are just okay to hold some of your stuff. They didn't even provide a bag for poles.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Mystique 1 Plus has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 0 which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 60 different 1 person tents we have looked at. With 32 square feet of space inside, it is considerably larger than some other 1-person tents, and it easily offers enough room for you during the whole of the 3-seasons this tent is suggested for. Smaller tents like this one often can make a fantastic choice for campers who prefer spending lots of hours outside of their tent exploring.

A few of the fantastic points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them easy to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The simplest dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Below you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  2. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  5. Breathable. The Mystique's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  7. Plenty of Positive Reviews The Mystique 1 has Lots of fantastic Reviews
  8. Great Ratings The Mystique 1 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  9. Available in other sizes. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great deal for a 1 person dome tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $171.12 info_outline

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Mystique 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
