Summary: Favorable Reviews

Setting it up only takes about 5 minutes. Outstanding quality. Rainfly has full coverage. Very cozy for two people and the floor gives you a feeling that it is super durable.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Because of the full coverage of the rainfly, it's slightly hard to reach the bottom zipper of it. Having someone to help in putting the rainfly is very convenient because it might be a hassle putting it all by yourself. Finding a larger bag is a brilliant idea if you want to pack the tent with no problem or it taking too long because of it.

The Extreme 3 Outfitter has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 4' 2 which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 126 other 3 person tents we have studied. With 48 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 3-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you and, up to two other campers during the 4-seasons this tent is suggested for. Smaller tents like this one can generally make a great choice for campers who welcome spending plenty of hours outside the tent exploring.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the various sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent should have a square floor, slanted sides a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Extreme Outfitter can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 openings it is simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Extreme's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Tons of Positive Reviews The Extreme 3 has Tons of very good Reviews
  9. Other sizes are available. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great buy for a 3 person dome tent providing this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $251.39 info_outline

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 48 square feet, the Extreme 3 is smaller than quite a few of the 126 other 3 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Extreme 3 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 210D 110T Nylon, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Extreme 3, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 9 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  6. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store a lot of stuff inside..

Alps's Extreme 3 Outfitter tent is ideal for bicycle & motorbike camping. Here are a few other cool things not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: The Extreme 3 Outfitter takes all of the standard features of the Extreme 3 and enhances them with 2 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers and a heavy duty nylon oxford floor., a free standing aluminum pole tent, with a configuration that is extremely strong and sturdy. and Easy entry with two doors (both with zippered mesh windows).

Value for money: In terms of value for money, this tent is a more competitive than the average cost of all the one hundred and eighty, three-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself does not make it awesome value for money. We also need to take into account other areas in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we tally up the score of an individual tent, we look at a good deal of stuff, finding areas where the tent could outshine other very similar tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total score of 4.5 and the price data above, one can see that with a price of $251.39 info_outline The Extreme 3 Outfitter is a great purchase and astonishingly cheap when compared with comparable tents.
