Summary: Favorable Reviews

Great Value for the price compared to a lot more expensive tents. It holds up well in the rain. Easy to assemble. Enough space for a couple. After three years, it is still going strong.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Not the easiest of tents to set up. Quite heavy for two-person tent. A little on the small side for two people.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Aries 2 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 6 which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 189 various 2 person tents we have looked at. With 32 square feet of space inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, another camper during the 3-seasons this tent is suggested for. Smaller tents like this one are an excellent choice for campers who prefer spending plenty of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the great points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the roof. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Aries can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Breathable. The Aries's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Plenty of Positive Reviews The Aries 2 has Tons of great Reviews
  9. Impressive Ratings The Aries 2 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on optimumtents.com
  10. Other sizes are available. Alps has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  11. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 2 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $153.48 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 32 square feet, the Aries 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 189 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Aries 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
  5. Storage Space. because of the size of the tent, one cannot store a lot of stuff inside..

Value for money: When contemplating value for money, this tent is unquestionably more competitive than the normal cost of all the two hundred and sixty-nine, two-person tents we have looked at, this itself does not make it excellent value for money. One should also take into account other things in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we calculate the score of a tent, we regard plenty of conditions, searching for points where the tent could exceed other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with a total rating of 4.9 and the price knowledge above, we can notice that with a ticket price of $153.48 info_outline Alps's Aries 2 is a fantastic deal and very cheap in comparison with comparable tents.
