Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who experienced the tent said: Easy to put up and to take down even you are in the dark. The entrances are great for when you stuff the large vestibule with gear and do not want to have to try to crawl over it. It is also stable with lots of guy outs. Plenty of internal pockets is beneficial, especially I bring many things with me when I hike. The vestibule can also be altered in three different ways depending on the weather and trip use.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some backpackers who used this tent on their trip said: It is not the tent that you want to use when going to high altitude climbing. It is weak at the same time it rips off easily. Not even sure if its water resistant since my things tend to get wet in the pockets from condensation, but otherwise a very solid tent.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Chogori 3 has one window and two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 10, which is a tiny bit less than the average height of the 160 various 3 person tents we have studied. With 44 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 3-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to two other campers throughout the 4-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can generally make a fantastic choice for campers who love spending heaps of time outside the tent exploring.

Many of the great things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them easy to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the roof. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is usually considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Underneath you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Chogori can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Nemo Equipment has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 70D PeU Nylon, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. Other sizes are available. Nemo Equipment has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 44 square feet, the Chogori 3 is smaller than quite a few of the 165 other 3 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some campers.
  3. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it might not protect against heavy rain.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 70D PeU Nylon but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  5. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Chogori 3, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 8 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.6 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.6 STARS

Nemo Equipment's Chogori 3 tent is perfect for base camp and expeditions. There are a few other cool things not already mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while researching the model: Silicone-treated fabrics are significantly stronger and don't require seam tape, resulting in increased durability., It has category-leading ventilation, vestibule space, and guy-out options. and Protected by the NEMO Lifetime Warranty..

With superb ratings, and headroom of 3' and 44 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your own modest flat. It will allow you to spend some really enjoyable time camping. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions about this actual tent, our view is, it should make for an excellent buy. If you simply happened to land on this website while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this brand or this model previously, it is probably a good thing to look at a few other comparable tents also.

Value for money: When considering value for your dollar, this tent is without a doubt more costly than the normal price of all the one hundred and sixty, three-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone by itself is not a negative thing. One should also take a look at other factors in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the overall score of a single tent, we study a good deal of things, looking for points where the tent could shine against other comparable tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.6 and the price knowledge above, one can see that with a price of $899.95 Nemo Equipment's Chogori 3 is an exceptional deal even though it could be considered very expensive when set side by side with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and size the tent offers make it an excellent buy for those searching for a tent that can be used for lots of years. It should make a good choice for most campers looking for a comfy four-season dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
