Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Rainfly leaks at some seams, so best to apply seam sealer before use. Included stakes are poor quality. There is some wasted space in the ends of the tent due to less-than-optimal design.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Spitfire 1 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 4, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 71 other 1 person tents we have studied. With 18 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often make a fantastic choice for people that like spending lots of time outside the tent exploring.

Some of the great things about bivy tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them simple to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the bivy type. They are usually, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Bivy tents are the most commonly seen of all the different types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The most basic bivy tent will have a square footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can find a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Offers you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  3. Breathable. The Spitfire's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  4. Other sizes are available. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  5. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 1 person bivy tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $139.95

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 18 square feet, the Spitfire 1 is smaller than quite a few of the 71 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately designed for the Spitfire 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 190T StormShield polyester taffeta, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.

CONCLUSION

3.9 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 3.9 STARS

Eureka's Spitfire 1 tent is ideal for backpacking. There are a few other nice points not mentioned above which, were noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Only 2 stakes required to secure the tent body, The Spitfire is loaded with mesh for great ventilation and Ideal for fast and light backcountry travel.

With good ratings, quite a few reviews and a center height of 3' and 18 square feet of space for sleeping, this tent is like your own modest home away from home. It allows you to enjoy some real quality moments hanging out with nature. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for recommendations on this specific tent, we think, it should make for a great acquisition. If you just happened to land on this website while looking for a new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent model previously, it is possibly a good thing to check out some other similar tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is without a doubt cheaper than the average cost of all the one hundred, one-person tents we have taken a look at, this just by itself does not make it excellent value for money. We also need to look at other factors in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we calculate the overall score of a single tent, we regard tons of things, finding points where the tent could exceed other comparable tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total rating of 3.9 and the price knowledge above, we can notice that with a ticket price of $139.95 The Spitfire 1 is a very good purchase and astonishingly priced in comparison with comparable tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent provides were not compromised to get a price undoubtedly under the average price for comparable tents. It will make a superb choice for nearly all people looking for an adequate three-season backpacking tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
