SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Solitaire 1 AL has one door and a peak center height of 2' 4, which is 15 inches less than the average height of the 71 various 1 person tents we have studied. With 22 square feet of room inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it could be a little tight for you throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one can generally make an excellent choice for people that enjoy spending heaps of time outside the tent exploring.

Many of the cool points about bivy tents are, that they are generally speaking light, making them easy to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the bivy type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Bivy tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic bivy tent should have a square floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Affords you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  3. Breathable. The Solitaire's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  4. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  5. Low price. It is a great buy for a 1 person bivy tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $109.95

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 22 square feet, the Solitaire 1 is smaller than quite a lot of the 71 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 15% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Solitaire 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 68D 185T Polyester taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we checked.
