Summary: Favorable Reviews

Steady and trustworthy... this is my verdict for this tent. It has given me outstanding value for my money. I am impressed by its performance during bad weather.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I don't like the zipper construction of this tent. It seems to be poorly made. I also noticed, the same as some other buyers, that the zippers are also a little small for the size of the shelter.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Flying Diamond 6 has two doors and a peak center height of 5' 7, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 106 other 6 person tents we have examined With 92 square feet of space inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to five other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one generally make a very nice choice for people that love spending plenty of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the great things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the top of the tent. The simplest dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers. Not all tents are created equal, modifed dome tents often have a few rooms, the same as the Big Agnes Flying Diamond two-room tent

Down below, you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Flying Diamond can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Affords you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  4. More than one room. The Flying Diamond is designed with two rooms, allowing for extra privacy. Perfect for a large family and groups who do not want to be all sleeping together.
  5. Removable divider. For those who want to maximize all of the available space that the Flying Diamond provides, the divider can be detached to have one large room for everyone to share.
  6. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Available in other sizes. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Sensitive to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Flying Diamond may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 92 square feet, the Flying Diamond 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 106 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  4. No windows. With no windows it is not simple to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Flying Diamond 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Coated polyester, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  6. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we checked.

CONCLUSION

Our Ratings: 4.9 STARS

Big Agnes's Flying Diamond 6 tent is perfect for car camping. There are a couple of other nice points not already mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while reviewing the model: Spacious and strong tents for 3+ season base camping, Ready to pitch; with pre-cut guy lines and tensioners attached to fly and The Flying Diamond series of shelters are much more than standard tents. They are Everest base camp dining rooms.

This allows you and up to 4 other friends to spend some really enjoyable time camping together. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can look at above.

If you found this website looking for suggestions on this actual tent, we consider, it will make for a good buy. In case you simply happened to arrive on this page while looking for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this tent previously, it is possibly a good thing to look at a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for money, this tent is unquestionably costlier than the usual price of all the one hundred and seven, six-person tents we have taken a look at, this alone is not a negative thing. We also need to look at other areas in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we measure the ratings of a tent, we look at a lot of stuff, searching for things where the tent could outperform other very similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.3 and the price details above, It is simple enough to view that with a ticket price of $498.95 info_outline Big Agnes's Flying Diamond 6 is a fair buy although it may be thought of as quite pricey when set side by side with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and dimensions the tent provides make it a decent buy for people looking for a tent that can last for lots of years. It will make an ok choice for nearly all people searching for an appropriate three-season modifed dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
