Summary: Favorable Reviews

Steady and trustworthy... this is my verdict for this tent. It has given me outstanding value for my money. I am impressed by its performance during bad weather.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

I don't like the zipper construction of this tent. It seems to be poorly made. I also noticed, the same as some other buyers, that the zippers are also a little small for the size of the shelter.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Flying Diamond 6 has two doors and a peak center height of 5' 7, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 107 different 6 person tents we have examined With 92 square feet of room inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to five other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a great choice for people who prefer spending heaps of hours outside the tent exploring.

A few of the great points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the water pooling on the top. The simplest dome tent should have a square footprint, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.Lot’s of modifed dome tents have more than just one room to stay in, just like the Big Agnes Flying Diamond two-room tent

Below you can find an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Flying Diamond can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Big Agnes has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one room. The Flying Diamond is designed with two rooms, allowing for more privacy. Ideal for a large family and groups who do not want to be all sleeping together.
  5. Removable divider. For those who would like to maximize all of the available space that the Flying Diamond provides, the divider can be removed to have one large room for everyone to share.
  6. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  8. Available in other sizes. Big Agnes has also made this model available in Other Sizes.

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Flying Diamond may not do best in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would want to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 92 square feet, the Flying Diamond 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 107 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Lacking in Headroom. With 9% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  4. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  5. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Flying Diamond 6 footprint Even though the floor may be made of Coated polyester, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.

CONCLUSION

4.4 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.4 STARS

Big Agnes's Flying Diamond 6 tent is suitable for car camping. There are a couple of other points not mentioned above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: Spacious and strong tents for 3+ season base camping, Ready to pitch; with pre-cut guy lines and tensioners attached to fly and The Flying Diamond series of shelters are much more than standard tents. They are Everest base camp dining rooms.

With positive ratings, a decent amount of reviews and headroom of 5' and 92 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own modest home away from home. This allows you and up to 4 other campers to share some delightful moments enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can look at above.

If you came to this page looking for suggestions about this specific tent, we consider, it will make for an awesome acquisition. In case you just happened to land on this page while looking for a brand new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this tent previously, it is probably a good idea to look at some other similar tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your money, this tent is undoubtedly more expensive than the average cost of all the one hundred and eight, six-person tents we have looked at, this alone is not a negative thing. We also need to take a look at other things in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we measure the overall score of an individual tent, we consider loads of stuff, finding points where the tent could excel against other near-identical tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with an overall rating of 4.4 and the price data above, It is simple enough to observe that with a cost of $559.73 The Flying Diamond 6 is a good purchase though it may be considered quite pricey when compared with similar tents.

Its ratings show that the quality and capacity the tent offers make it a suitable buy for those wanting a tent that can be used for plenty of years. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is reduced by 20% from the manufactures MSRP. It should make an ok choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfortable three-season modifed dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well for years to come.
