SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Summer Pass 3 has two doors and a peak center height of 3' 8, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 145 different 3 person tents we have examined With 43 square feet of space inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 3-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to two other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often make an excellent choice for people that like spending heaps of time outside of their tent exploring.

A few of the great things about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In near all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent will have a rectangular floor, slanted walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Underneath you can see an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Summer Pass can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is good to see Eureka adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D 185T Polyester taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  6. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with a tent. It is strongly suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to buy one is a plus.
  7. Breathable. The Summer Pass's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  8. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  9. Available in other sizes. Eureka has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  10. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 3 person dome tent that provides this much room. Not many tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $319.95

CONS

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 43 square feet, the Summer Pass 3 is smaller than quite a lot of the 145 other 3 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 10% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Not the best Ratings. Unfortunatly the Summer Pass 3 has some of the worst ratings of all tents on optimumtents.com
  4. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Summer Pass 3, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 6 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.2 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Eureka's Summer Pass 3 tent is suitable for backpacking. There are a couple of other cool things not mentioned above which, we found and liked, while researching the model: Light, airy, and tough enough for any three-season backpacking adventure, Camp Comfort Sleep System compatible and High/Low Vent - Air Exchange System creates completely adjustable, easy to use ventilation options for all weather conditions.

With inferior ratings, a few reviews and headroom of 3' and 43 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own modest apartment. This allows you to enjoy some real quality moments camping. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions about this specific tent, we consider, it should make for an ok buy. In case you just happened to land on this page while browsing for a brand new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent model previously, it is probably a good thing to look at a few other similar tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is a cheaper than the usual price of all the one hundred and ninety-four, three-person tents we have looked at, this itself does not make it good value for money. One should also take into account other things in detail, as we do with every tent.

When we calculate the overall score of an individual tent, we regard tons of areas, looking for things where the tent could exceed other comparable tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.2 and the price info above, one can conclude that with a cost of $319.95 The Summer Pass 3 is an ok deal and fabulously priced in comparison with similar tents.

The overall score shows that the quality and capacity the tent offers might have been on a small scale compromised to finish up with a price undoubtedly under the usual price for similar tents. It should make a decent choice for most people searching for an appropriate three-season dome tent to go camping in, that will serve you well.
