Tent Set Up

Not the easiest on the first go

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Tent does not flap or move even in sustained heavy winds. Comfortable interior. Good ventilation. Set up is easy. No leaks even in bad downpours.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

The tent has five poles, making it more complicated to pitch and take down. Mesh walls may maximise airflow, but in cold weather will not keep in heat adequately. Not suitable for camping in cold weather.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The High Camp 2 has two doors and a maximum center height of 3' 8, which is a little bit less than the average height of the 220 various 2 person tents we have studied. With 40 square feet of room inside, it is significantly larger than some other 2-person tents, and it easily offers enough room for you and, another camper all through the 4-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a very nice choice for people that appreciate spending heaps of time outside exploring the great outdoors.

Some of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them easy to carry. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the different types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to easily slide off the sloped sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of their construction, it is typically considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can check out an account of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The High Camp can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is nice to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 70D 190T Nylon taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 5000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.

CONS

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 70D 190T Nylon taffeta but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.
  3. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the High Camp 2, looks like a small tent, it is not probably the best choice for backpacking as it weighs 10 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

Our Ratings: 4.7 STARS

Eureka's High Camp 2 tent is ideal for base camp and expeditions. Here are a couple of other cool things not noted above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: The narrow footprint is ideal for high altitude use, Fly rod creates head space high in the vestibules to ensure dry tent entry and Cold weather PU window in the front vestibule allows visibility and lightens tent interior.

With excellent ratings, and a minimum headroom of 3' and 40 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own little studio. This enables you to enjoy some real quality time hanging out with nature. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can check out above.

If you came to this website looking for suggestions on this particular tent, our view is, it should make for an excellent purchase. In case you just happened to arrive on this website while looking for a new tent having never heard of this manufacurer or this tent model previously, it is possibly a good idea to check out a few more comparable tents.

Value for money: As far as value for your dollar, this tent is a more costly than the usual cost of all the two hundred and eighty-seven, two-person tents we have taken a look at, this itself is not a negative thing. One should also look at other areas in-depth, as we do with each tent.

When we tally up the score of a single tent, we look at plenty of data points, looking for things where the tent could perform well against other similar tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with a total score of 4.7 and the price data above, It is simple to spot that with a cost of $649.95 Eureka's High Camp 2 is a perfect buy though it could be thought of as quite expensive when set side by side with similar tents.

The ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent gives you make it a perfect buy for people wanting a tent that will last for plenty of years. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is marked down by 0% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It should make an ok choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfy four-season dome tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
